Maharashtra CM Fadnavis urges Jarange to call off Mumbai March

Mumbai, Sep 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday urged Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil to reconsider his proposed “Chalo Mumbai” agitation, saying that holding demonstrations during the ongoing Ganeshotsav would cause inconvenience to devotees.
Speaking to reporters after installing the idol of Lord Ganesha at his official residence, ‘Varsha’, Fadnavis asserted that the state government has fulfilled the “vast majority” of the demands related to Maratha reservation, while the remaining issues would have to be addressed within the constitutional and legal framework.
He maintained that the government’s doors for dialogue would always remain open, but made it clear that demands or actions contrary to statutory provisions and court orders could not be accepted.
