Amit Shah protected rapist Dushyant Gautam by making him Sikkim Governor, says Sanjay Raut

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Raut, today alleged that union Home Minister Amit Shah made a BJP General Secretary Dushyant Gautam, the Governor of Sikkim, to protect him from being named as the main accused in the Ankita Bhandari rape and murder case.
According to the law, those holding constitutional positions like Governors and the President of India cannot be prosecuted in a court of law.
Addressing a press conference here, Raut said that Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old girl, worked as a receptionist at a resort in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
On September 18, 2022, she left the resort after finishing her work but did not reach home. Her parents filed a missing person police complaint, after which Ankita’s body was found in the Chila canal, he recalled.
“BJP General Secretary Dushyant Gautam was being investigated as the main accused, but he was appointed as Sikkim Governor, because that way, he will get protection and the investigation into the case will be closed. Please understand how big the conspiracy is,” Raut said.
The Sena UBT leader said that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi met and discussed the matter with Ankita Bhandari’s parents.
“They protested at India Gate for some time. But at 4 am in the morning, Amit Shah’s police arrested Ankita Bhandari’s parents, but Dushyant Gautam, who is the main accused, was made Governor of Sikkim. This is the state of affairs in this country today,” he lamented.
Raut claimed that Amit Shah’s health has deteriorated.
“Our struggle is against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. We have brought the issue of fraudulent voter lists to the fore. But Amit Shah's mental balance has deteriorated. He needs a full body check-up,”
Speaking on the ongoing mass protests, Raut said, “This is a street battle and now we are standing at the doorstep of the Supreme Court. Rahul Gandhi and I have filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The petition is being heard today.”
He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will consider the petition “becauase they know how angry people of the country are”.
Raut also criticised the Mumbai police for asking actor Imran Khan to leave the country by October 28 for participating in the protest to remove CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
“This only shows what Amit Shah and the Devendra Fadnavis government can do. Imran Khan was asked to leave the country because he raised his voice against Gyanesh Kumar. Then why is former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina not being asked to leave the country? Many Bollywood actors, including Akshay Kumar, are foreign nationals and NRIs. Why has no action been taken against them,” he asked.
Raut said that after actor Imran Khan joined the protest in Mumbai, the government panicked.
“Just because an artiste participated in the protest, they asked him to leave. Dhruv Rathee, who is a German citizen, also participated in the protest. But he was not told to leave the country. First, throw out Sheikh Hasina, who has been given shelter by the BJP government. There are many other foreigners who live in this country, thanks to the BJP,” Raut added.
