Local leaders should decide Satara District Bank Chairman, says Minister Shambhuraj Desai

Satara, Nov 8 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister and Satara Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai has called upon Mahayuti leaders in the district to resolve the issue of the chairmanship of the Satara District Central Cooperative Bank through mutual discussions, instead of repeatedly approaching senior leaders for a decision.
His remarks came in response to BJP leader Jaykumar Gore's statement that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would take the final call on the bank's chairmanship.
The election for the chairman's post is scheduled for November 18.
Desai said all the directors elected to the bank were from the Mahayuti alliance, following a united effort by its constituent parties. He explained that during the formation of the panel, it was decided that there would be no interference in the 11 seats allocated to individual talukas, keeping in mind their respective political equations.
The remaining 10 district-level seats were to be decided unopposed, and the arrangement was successfully implemented with the cooperation of senior leaders Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.
He recalled that the Chief Minister had advised district-level leaders to resolve the matter locally while forming the panel, approaching the senior leadership only if difficulties arose.
"Just as we all sat together at the district level and reached an understanding while forming an unopposed panel, we should follow the same approach for the chairman's election. Instead of repeatedly approaching senior leaders with our grievances, local Mahayuti leaders should sit together and find a solution through discussions," Desai said.
He, however, made it clear that the final authority rested with the alliance's senior leadership. If district-level discussions fail to produce a consensus, the decision taken jointly by Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar would be acceptable to everyone.
Desai expressed confidence that the local leaders would be able to arrive at an amicable solution, avoiding unnecessary intervention by senior leaders in the matter.
