Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil leaves Antarwali Sarati for Mumbai to stage protest

Jalna, Sep 15 (UNI) Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has left Antarwali Sarati for Mumbai to take forward his agitation, even as his supporters have submitted a fresh application to Mumbai Police seeking permission to hold the protest. This is the third application filed by the agitators after the police rejected their earlier requests for permission.
In the latest application, the organisers have sought permission for 50 people to participate in the protest.
The application states that the organisers will strictly comply with all rules and conditions imposed by the police authorities.
It also mentions that the protest will be held on September 18 within the time slot prescribed by the authorities, according to sources.
However, sources said the possibility of Mumbai Police granting permission to Jarange Patil's proposed agitation remains low.
With the Ganesh festival underway, the police are apprehensive that allowing the protest could create law-and-order challenges and put additional pressure on the police force deployed for festival security.
Sources said the police are likely to consider granting permission for such agitations only after the conclusion of the Ganesh festival.
Meanwhile, the protesters have indicated that they are prepared to approach the court if the police reject their latest application.
The agitators have maintained that they will pursue all available legal avenues to secure permission for the proposed protest in Mumbai.
