SW monsoon advances over parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab

Pune, June 26 (UNI) Southwest monsoon has advanced over some more parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, with conditions being favourable for its further progress over remaining parts of the country during the next 3-4 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

The IMD bulletin said day temperatures were markedly above normal (more than 5.1°C) at isolated places over Odisha. appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh; at isolated places over sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

The day temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at a few places over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Lakshadweep and at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan and Kerala and Mahe.

According to the bulletin, day temperatures were near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at many places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Chhattisgarh; at most places over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Saurashtra and Kutch, Vidarbha, Telangana and Rayalaseema; at isolated places over Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and north interior Karnataka.

Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 42.4°C was reported at Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).

The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana and active over Odisha, Marathwada, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. It has been subdued over Bihar.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, east Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra and north interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, west Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 8-30 a.m. today.
