Rescuers search for 14 missing after Himlung avalanche in Nepal

Kathmandu, Sep 28 (UNI) Rescuers on Monday launched a search operation for 14 Nepali high-altitude workers and guides who went missing after an avalanche struck Mount Himlung in Manang district, while the bodies of two others killed in the incident were being airlifted to Kathmandu.
A 14-member rescue team, led by Mingma G Sherpa, operator of Imagine Nepal Trek and Expedition and an international mountain guide, reached the Himlung base camp by helicopter from Chame on Monday morning to begin the search, the Kathmandu Post reported.
Senior Captain Pasang Norbu Sherpa of Prabhu Helicopter said the team was flown to the base camp after staying overnight in Chame. “We took the rescue team to the Himlung base camp this morning,” he said.
