India slams UN Human Rights over ‘double standards’, demands accountability from Pakistan over PoK

New York, Oct 15 (UNI) India has strongly criticised the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for its "double standards" and "extreme selectivity" in reporting human rights violations, while demanding accountability from Pakistan over alleged abuses in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, Anuj Swarup, First Secretary at India’s UN Mission, said the selective approach of the human rights body risked undermining trust in multilateralism.
India pointed out that violent responses to protests in neighbouring countries and Western nations had gone uncommented upon in the High Commissioner’s reports.
