United Russia could secure constitutional majority in State Duma: CEC Deputy Chairman

Moscow, Sept 21 (Sputnik/UNI) United Russia could secure a constitutional majority in the ninth State Duma, judging by trends in preliminary voting results on party lists and in single-mandate constituencies, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Nikolai Bulayev told Sputnik.
According to CEC data after 79.08% of the protocols counted, the United Russia party is leading with 57.69%, the Communist Party is gaining 13.96%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) 8.75%, the New People party is getting 7.97%, with A Just Russia party gaining 4.98% of the vote, just below the 5% threshold required to make it to the parliament.
"We can speak of trends. It is highly likely that representatives of United Russia will be elected in the vast majority of single-mandate constituencies. And, judging by the number of votes United Russia is receiving on party lists, it is securing a constitutional majority in the State Duma," Bulayev said.
