GOP senators express discontent over Trump's lavish reception of Xi Jinping, urge for harder measures on China

Washington, Sep 26 (UNI) Republican senators have expressed concern over President Donald Trump's lavish reception for Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington, amid renewed scrutiny over China's reported military cooperation with Iran.
Xi arrived in Washington this week for a two-day summit that included a formal welcome at Joint Base Andrews, a state dinner at the White House and talks with Trump. The visit came as tensions between the US and China remain high over Iran, Taiwan, trade and artificial intelligence.
The issue has taken on added urgency after reports that Iranian forces obtained satellite imagery of a US military base in Jordan from Chinese entities before an attack in July that killed three American service members.
