Trump asked Xi whether China would like to purchase US weapons during meeting in Washington, says ambassador

Washington, Sep 28 (UNI) US President Donald Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping whether China would like to buy American weapons during a recent meeting in Washington, US Ambassador to China David Perdue said on Sunday, making an unusual remark as Washington continues to hold up a major arms package for Taiwan.
“President Trump continues to say, hey, we sell arms to other people around the world. He actually asked President Xi, would he like to buy some at one point,” Perdue said in an interview with Fox News. He did not specify when the exchange took place or whether Xi responded.
