No question of supporting culprits in Vashnavi Hagavane's death case: Maha SWC

Satara, May 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Women's Commission has taken a strong stand on the issue of Vaishnavi Hagavane's death and there is no question of supporting the perpetrators in Vashnavi's death case, said SWC president Rupali Chakankar on Thursday.
Talking to reporters in Karad town of the district, she described Vaishnavi Hagavane's death as unfortunate and said that despite anti-dowry law, if Vaishnavi was being harrased and lost her life for dowry, then everybody must fight against this perverse mentality.
She further said that she has already given instructions to investigating agencies to investigate Vaishnavi's death properly and a case has been registered against some family members including Vaishnavi 's husband and mother-in-law but her father-in-law and brother-in-law have been absconding.
She asserted that action would be taken against the guilty within the framework of law.
On whether Vaishnavi's father-in-law Rajendra Hagavane was an office bearer.(Tehsil president) of NCP (AP), Ms Chakankar clarified that he was not an office-bearer of NCP(AP) but whichever party he may belong to, he is a criminal.
"Therefore, no matter who he is, we will not support a criminal. The party has already suspended his son (deceased woman's husband) from NCP-SP," she added.
