No shortage of funds for development of Sri Jagannath Dham in Puri: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said the Odisha government would provide the required funds for the ongoing development and beautification projects at Sri Jagannath Dham in Puri.
Several major projects, including the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre (JBPC), Market Complex, Sri Setu and expansion of the Musa River, are being implemented in Puri under the ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme.
An amount of Rs 557.19 crore was initially sanctioned for the projects. However, additional construction works and other requirements have subsequently been taken up, necessitating an increase in the project cost.
The Chief Minister said an additional Rs 100.83 crore would be invested in the projects over and above the earlier allocation.
He said the government had also decided to construct a 2,000-seat multipurpose hall on the fifth floor of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre. Additional funds would also be required to meet other project-related requirements, he added.
Considering the additional requirements, the Chief Minister approved an enhanced project cost of Rs 658.03 crore, reiterating that there would be no constraint of funds for the development of Sri Jagannath Dham.
