Odisha BJP hails govt’s Rs 1,500 crore tourism infra initiative

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4 (UNI) The Odisha government has earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for tourism infrastructure and hotel construction during 2026-31 and sanctioned 5,500 acres as a land bank for tourism projects, with the state BJP welcoming the measures.
State BJP spokesperson Dilip Mallick said the initiatives would expand tourism infrastructure and create investment and employment opportunities in the sector.
The government is also set to introduce tourist police at 29 major tourist destinations to strengthen security for visitors, Mallick said.
His remarks came as the seventh edition of the Odisha Travel Bazaar 2026 brought together travel operators, investors and tourism industry representatives from India and abroad, with investment in hotels, homestays, eco-tourism and related infrastructure among the key areas of focus.
The Travel Bazaar is showcasing Odisha’s cultural heritage, Buddhist sites, wildlife, forests, coastline and tribal traditions to domestic and international tourism stakeholders.
