Odisha CM launches Vikas Bahan Yatra to connect people with govt schemes

Bhubaneswar, June 12 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday launched the state-level Vikas Bahan Yatra, aimed at connecting people with various government programmes and schemes.
The initiative, organised by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, marks the completion of one year of the state government under Majhi’s leadership.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the "double-engine government" in Odisha is moving at double speed, striving to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people. “A hallmark of our government is its continuous effort to connect with the citizens,” he stated.
Highlighting the achievements of the past year, Majhi said Odisha has made significant strides in multiple sectors. “Alongside the empowerment of women, farmers, tribals, and youth, we have unlocked immense potential in the fields of infrastructure and industry,” he added.
He emphasised that the Vikas Bahan Yatra is another step in bridging the gap between the government and the people, aiming to inspire confidence from villages to cities.
The Chief Minister underlined the importance of public participation in ensuring the success of various schemes implemented during the past year. “Our goal is to reach out to people in remote and inaccessible areas through informative and educational programmes, and raise awareness about the government’s welfare initiatives,” he said.
To mark one year of clean, accountable, and people-centric governance, special development vehicles will travel across 314 blocks, 115 notified area councils, and 5 municipal corporations in the state, bringing administration to the people’s doorstep.
As part of the outreach, the vehicles will distribute the ‘Pragati Prabha’—a publication highlighting the government's achievements—and a booklet detailing the progress made over the past year.
Chief Minister Majhi affirmed that this campaign reflects the government's commitment to building a developed and prosperous Odisha with active public participation.
Minister of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Ravi Narayan Naik, also spoke on the occasion, reaffirming the government's commitment to the state's progress. UNI DP SSP
