Odisha: Two notorious Maoists captured by Malkangiri Police

Bhubaneswar, June 13 (UNI) Malkangiri Police achieved a breakthrough in its anti-Maoist operations with the arrest of two notorious Maoists on Friday.
The arrested Maoists have been identified as Kesha Kawasi and Rakesh alias Sanu Kunjam, both hailing from Chhattisgarh.
Kawasi is a resident of the Darba police station area in Bastar district, while Sanu Kunjam alias Rakesh is from the Gangalur police station area in Bijapur district.
Police seized a pistol, six rounds of ammunition, an electric detonator, codex wire, gunpowder, a walkie-talkie, a battery, Maoist literature, and other incriminating materials from their possession.
A special police team was constituted, and a search operation was launched on June 12 based on intelligence inputs regarding Maoist activity in the forests near Sodiguda and Tentuliguda villages under the Maithili police station.
In the early hours of the morning, the Maoists attempted to flee from the forest and opened fire on the security personnel. The forces retaliated in self-defense. While some Maoists managed to escape, Kesha Kawasi and Sanu Kunjam were apprehended by the police.
Both individuals are involved in several Maoist-related incidents.
Kesha Kawasi is linked to cases under Boipariguda and Kundra police stations in Koraput district, as well as the Maithili police station in Malkangiri district.
Similarly, Rakesh alias Sanu Kunjam is wanted in a case registered at Maithili police station in Malkangiri district.
