Odisha: Diarrhoea situation in Jajpur district under control

Bhubaneswar, June 14 (UNI) The diarrhoea situation in Jajpur district has improved and is now under control, official sources said on Saturday.
Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra stated that a total of 1,516 diarrhoea patients have been admitted to various hospitals in Jajpur district so far.
Of them, 1,306 have recovered, while 210 are still undergoing treatment and the doctors are hopeful that all remaining patients will recover soon.
The number of new patients admitted to various hospitals has decreased significantly, and no new areas have been reported to be affected by cholera, the sources added.
Patients who had been admitted to various community health centres, the district headquarters hospital, and SCB Medical College in Cuttack until yesterday are gradually recovering and returning home, the release stated.
Although some cases have been reported in Bhadrak and Cuttack districts, they have not posed any widespread or serious public health concerns.
A 24x7 control room is operational, working closely with the Health Team, Rapid Action Team, and Public Health Team of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Field-level staff are working with full vigilance and urgency. The control room is functioning from the district office round-the-clock.
National Health Mission Director Dr. Vrinda D. and Health Department Special Secretary Dr. Vijay Kumar Mahapatra visited the district on Saturday and reviewed the treatment facilities and other ongoing health interventions.
To make field operations more targeted, three central teams have been deployed.
On the instructions of the Director General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a 7-member health team and a 3-member food safety team have been sent to Odisha.
Additionally, a 4-member special food quality team has been dispatched by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). In total, 14 experts are part of these three teams.
These teams will visit the affected areas to assess the public health situation and provide necessary recommendations to local field officers and both state and central governments regarding the causes and prevention of the disease.
