Outsourcing employees demand salary arrears, job security in Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Thousands of outsourcing employees working in 206 minority residential schools staged a protest at Indira Park here on Monday, demanding immediate clearance of salary arrears, regularisation of services and job security.
Addressing the protest, Rajya Sabha member and National BC Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah urged the government to clear the pending salaries of around 30,000 outsourcing employees and restore their ESI and EPF benefits.
The protest was presided over by Masam Shirisha Abdullah, president of the Minority Residential Schools Non-Teaching Employees Association.
Krishnaiah demanded regularisation of contract and outsourcing employees, citing the need to provide job security and fair wages. He said around 4.9 lakh outsourcing employees working across 72 government departments and 65 public sector undertakings in Telangana should also be considered for regularisation.
He alleged that low wages, delayed salary payments and lack of job security were forcing employees to leave government jobs for private-sector employment.
He cited examples of other states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Rajasthan, Punjab and Karnataka, where temporary employees had been regularised, and urged Telangana to follow suit.
