Panchkula Police slap Rs 13,000 fine on Bullet rider for modified silencer, ‘cracker’ sound

Panchkula, Sep 19 (UNI) Panchkula Traffic Police on Saturday imposed a Rs 13,000 fine on a Bullet motorcycle rider for allegedly using a modified silencer to produce loud “cracker-like” sounds, as police stepped up action against traffic violations and nuisance on city roads.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh, IPS, said traffic teams were keeping a close watch on vehicles fitted with modified silencers and other unauthorised alterations.
The motorcycle was intercepted near the Amartex traffic lights after the rider was found violating traffic rules, following which a challan of Rs 13,000 was issued, police said.
Panchkula Commissioner of Police Pankaj Nain, IPS, warned that hooliganism on roads, speeding, stunts and excessive noise from modified silencers would not be tolerated.
He also urged parents to discourage their children from making unauthorised modifications to vehicles or indulging in dangerous driving.
