Congress leader Kumari Selja flags poor roads, irregular drinking water supply in Kalka-Pinjore

Pinjore, Sep 19 (UNI) Congress national general secretary and CWC member Kumari Selja on Saturday raised concerns over the condition of roads and drinking water supply in the Kalka-Pinjore area, saying basic civic amenities needed to be improved in line with the needs of the growing population.
Addressing a block-level Congress workers’ convention at K Farm in Pinjore in the Kalka Assembly constituency, Selja said poor road conditions at several places were causing inconvenience to residents and called for timely repairs and regular maintenance.
She also highlighted complaints of irregular drinking water supply in parts of the area, saying residents should not have to struggle for basic amenities.
“Roads are an important foundation of development and their timely repair and regular maintenance should be ensured,” Selja said, adding that the administration should take concrete steps to ensure adequate and regular drinking water supply.
She said the Kalka-Pinjore area has a large population and therefore roads, drinking water and other public facilities should be developed according to local requirements.
Development schemes, she added, should translate into visible improvements on the ground and everyday problems faced by residents should be addressed on priority.
Focusing on the Congress organisation, Selja called upon party workers to remain connected with people at the grassroots and raise their concerns before the appropriate forums.
She said the strength of the organisation depended on active and dedicated workers. She urged workers to hold more meetings at the block and booth levels, maintain direct communication with residents and take up their grievances with the party organisation and concerned authorities.
She also called upon workers to work with determination under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
The convention, presided over by former Kalka MLA Pradeep Chaudhary, also discussed forthcoming organisational activities and local public issues.
Panchkula MLA Chander Mohan, Pradesh Congress Committee delegate Ajay Singla, Kalka Block Congress president Sunil Sham, district president Sanjay, Ashwani Nagra, SP Arora, Vijay Bansal, District Council chairman Sunil Sharma, Naresh Mann, Gurbhag Singh Dhamala, Raghuvir Sodhi and Santosh Sharma were among those present, besides a large number of Congress office-bearers and workers.
