Phillips' blazing 107, Bracewell's 65 power New Zealand to 259/7

Auckland, Oct 30 (UNI) A breathtaking century by Glenn Phillips and a blistering half-century from Michael Bracewell propelled New Zealand to a formidable 259 for seven against India in the fourth T20 International at Eden Park here on Friday.
Phillips smashed 107 off just 49 balls, studded with six fours and 10 sixes, while Bracewell hammered 65 off 25 deliveries as New Zealand unleashed an extraordinary assault after India elected to bowl.
The hosts scored at a staggering 12.95 runs per over, leaving India with a daunting target of 260.
Phillips was fortunate to survive a crucial opportunity in the 14th over when Axar Patel bowled him in the air while attempting a switch-hit. Naman Dhir charged in from long-off but misjudged the catch and overran the ball, allowing the New Zealand batsman to escape when he was on the attack.
The reprieve proved costly for India as Phillips continued his assault, taking Nitish Kumar Reddy for a sequence of sixes in the 16th over, which yielded 32 runs.
Phillips and Bracewell turned the contest on its head with a devastating 115-run partnership for the fifth wicket off just 40 balls. The stand transformed New Zealand's position from 112 for four to 227 for five in the 18th over.
Phillips brought up his century in the 19th over, taking Arshdeep Singh over long-off for a six. He was eventually dismissed for 107 in the 19.2 over, caught by Abhishek Sharma off Nitish Reddy.
Bracewell had earlier raised his fifty with a six off Mayank Yadav in the 17th over, continuing the onslaught with six maximums and four boundaries before being trapped lbw by Prince Yadav.
Finn Allen also provided an explosive start with 31 off 17 balls, while Daryl Mitchell smashed 24 off just nine deliveries. Their aggressive approach helped New Zealand reach 67 for two in the powerplay, their highest powerplay score of the series.
India managed early breakthroughs through Mayank Yadav, who claimed three wickets for 48 runs. He dismissed Tim Seifert for three in the opening over before removing Mitchell and Bevon Jacobs (7).
Axar Patel dismissed Allen, while Prince Yadav accounted for Bracewell. Arshdeep Singh removed New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner for five, finishing with figures of one for 38.
India now face the challenging task of chasing 260 after New Zealand's batting fireworks put the hosts firmly in control at the innings break.
