Planning to formulate concrete plan for flood management in Maha, Karnataka

Kolhapur, May 27 (UNI) With near arrival of the South-west monsoon, the administrations of flood-prone districts in Maharashtra and neighbouring Karnataka came together through a video conference on Tuesday and held discussions on in-depth measures and coordination to be taken to reduce the risk of flooding.
In an important inter-state coordination meeting held at the district collector's office here via video conferencing, collectors of Kokhat and Sangli districts in Maharashtra along with Belgaum and Bijapur in Karnataka participated.
The main issue in this meeting was the water level in Panchganga and Krishna rivers, the discharge of water from Almatti dam, flood situation in Kolhapur and Sangli districts and inter-state coordination was also discussed.
In this meeting, the Water Resources departments, Disaster Management agencies and district administrations of both the states decided to come together and formulate a concrete plan for flood management.
Collectors Amol Yedge (Kolhapur), Ashok Kakade (Sangli), Mohammad Roshan (Belgaum), Sambit Mishra (Bijapur), DSPs Yogesh Kumar Gupta (Kolhapur), Sandeep Ghuge (Sangli), Superintendent Engineer of Water Resources Department C H Patole, Chief Engineer of Almatti Dam along with officials of the concerned districts of the Water Resources Department were present.
