Planning Dept gives administrative approval for development of memorial site of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi in Ahilyanagar

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) The Planning Department, headed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has given an administrative approval to the development plan of Rs 681.32 crore for preservation and conservation of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar memorial site at Mauje Choundi in Jamkhed taluka of Ahilyanagar district, the birthplace of Ahilyadevi Holkar.
The government decision in this regard has been issued by the Planning Department on Wednesday.
The responsibility of monitoring and implementation of this plan has been entrusted to the District Collector of Ahilyanagar.
Pawar, who also holds Finance portfolio, was trying hard to develop the memorial site of Punyashloka Ahilyadevi, the birthplace of the world's greatest female ruler of all time, at Chaundi.
The relevant plans are prepared by the Planning Department keeping in mind the scope and nature of the national and international important sites, pilgrimage sites and area development plans mentioned by the Finance Minister in his budget speech.
After discussions with the local stakeholders and experts, the plan for the preservation and development of Chaundi memorial site and the funds required for it was prepared by a committee headed by the district collector of Ahilyanagar.
It was approved in the state Cabinet meeting held at Chaundi on May six through the Summit Committee, headed by the chief secretary. Two weeks later, Pawar's Planning Department issued a government decision today granting administrative approval to the development plan at an estimated cost of Rs 681.32 crore.
This year marks the tercentenary of the birth of Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar, and to mark this occasion, the state Cabinet meeting was held in her native village of Choundi on May six.
