Jalandhar, May 25 (UNI) Jalandhar Commissionerate Police (CP) have busted a major drug network
and seized 13 kg of heroin worth Rs 91 crore, arms and ammunition besides three luxury vehicles.
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur told media persons on Sunday that in this connection, the police nabbed two drug smugglers. Also, a sum of Rs 22,000 has also been recovered from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shivam Sodhi alias Shiva of Simran Enclave near Lamma Pind chowk and Barinder Singh alias Babbu of Amar Nagar.
She further said that Shivam was nabbed by a team of the CIA on May 21 from near the small bridge in the Focal point area. The CIA team seized five kg of heroin along with drug money of Rs 22,000 from him.
After sustained interrogation during police remand, Shivam not only assisted the police in the recovery
of another consignment of seven kg of heroin and two luxury vehicles but also named his another accomplice involved in the drug network.
Following these revelations, the police nabbed Barinder Singh alias Babbu and seized one kg of heroin, two pistols of .32 bore, six live cartridges and three magazines on his instance.
Shivam has three and Babbu has four criminal cases already registered against them, Ms Kaur added.
