Rahul Gandhi Links Rubio’s Mumbai Visit to Epstein Photograph Featuring Hardeep Puri, Questions BJP-RSS Workers

New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday drew a political link between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Mumbai and the US Department of Justice releasing a photograph featuring Jeffrey Epstein and union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, asking BJP and RSS workers whom they believed was being blackmailed.
In a pointed post on the social media platform X, Rahul juxtaposed Rubio’s Mumbai visit with the photograph and posed a provocative question to workers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
“Rubio goes to Mumbai. The US DOJ releases a picture of Epstein and Puri. Dear BJP and RSS workers, which anti-national traitor do you think they're blackmailing?” he asked.
The Congress leader’s post brought the Epstein controversy into the centre of India’s political debate, using the photograph and the timing of its release to raise questions about possible political pressure and alleged blackmail. However, Rahul did not provide evidence in his post to substantiate the implication that any individual was being blackmailed.
Epstein, a US financier and convicted sex offender, was accused of sexually exploiting and trafficking underage girls. He died in a New York jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. His connections with prominent political leaders, business figures and other influential personalities across several countries have continued to attract scrutiny.
Puri, a senior BJP leader and union Minister, has previously addressed his association with Epstein, maintaining that their interactions were limited and linked to his professional engagements.
Rubio’s Mumbai visit provided the immediate backdrop to Rahul Gandhi’s intervention, which sought to turn the photograph into a political question directed at the BJP and RSS. The Congress leader’s remarks are likely to intensify the political exchanges between the ruling party and the Opposition. UNI SKA MCR
