Rajasthan: 12 candidates file nominations for mayoral / chairpersons polls in 4 municipal bodies

Jaipur, Sep 19 (UNI) As many as 12 candidates today entered the fray for election of mayors in municipal corporations of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota and chairperson in Suket Municipality of Kota district in Rajasthan Civic Bodies polls 2026.
As maximum of 4 contestants - Sunil Kothari of BJP, Sunita Gupta Mawar, Dashrath Atal and Sunita Methi(All 3 Congress) have filed nominations for mayoral post in the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. While multi-term corporator Mawar filed papers as the Congress official nominee, 2 others - Atal and Methi submitted nominations as the covering candidates.
In the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, Prasann Chand Mehta filed nominations on the BJP ticket while Rajendra Singh Solanki entered the fray as the Congress nominee.
In Kota Municipal Corporation, Anusuiya Goswami (BJP) and Sunita Kumari (Congress) are set to involve in straight contest in the mayoral polls. Goswami filed 2 sets of the papers.
Likewise, Umardeen (Congress), Kapil Bhavsar, Jitendra Chopra and Vikas Chauhan (all 3 BJP) have entered the fray for post of Chairman in the Suket Municipality in Kota district.
The scrutiny will be done on Monday, the date of withdrawals is September 23, and the polling will be conducted on September 25, a state election commission spokesperson said here this evening.
The elections for constituting new house in 309 civic bodies were held in two phases on September 9 and 11. However, the results of the polling were withheld for the aforementioned 3 municipal corporations and one municipality following order for holding repolls at 10 polling booths of 9 wards.
The polling in election for mayoral and chairpersons in 305 civic bodies is scheduled to be held on Monday. A total of 593 contestants are in the fray for election in Monday's polling. 32 Mayors and chairpersons have already been elected unopposed.
