Raut targets Modi, Shah and CEC, says INDIA bloc rally signals public mandate for change

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday launched attack on PM Modi, union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, claiming that the massive turnout at the INDIA bloc's 'Chalo Delhi' rally at Ramlila Maidan signalled a growing public demand for a change in government.
The Rajya Sabha member also said the BJP has no moral authority to express concern for Maharashtra, arguing that had it genuinely cared for the state, it would not have engineered a split in the Shiv Sena founded by Balasaheb Thackeray.
Dismissing the BJP's assertion that an elected government could not be easily unseated, Raut questioned the legitimacy of the present government and accused the CEC of helping it come to power.
"This government was not elected by the people, but came to power solely due to the grace of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar," he alleged, demanding the immediate removal of the poll panel chief.
Raut further asserted that the people, and not Shah, would decide Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's political future. He claimed that the Prime Minister and his government would face prosecution after losing power.
Targeting Shah over national security and border management, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader questioned claims about illegal immigration from Bangladesh and held the Home Minister responsible for alleged infiltration.
"If 13.5 crore out of Bangladesh's 15 crore population have entered India as illegal infiltrators, it represents a direct failure of Home Minister Amit Shah," Raut said, demanding that Modi dismiss Shah for allegedly failing to secure the country's borders.
Drawing a parallel with the historic anti-Emergency movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan in 1974, Raut claimed that Sunday's INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan surpassed earlier demonstrations in terms of crowd participation and public enthusiasm.
Explaining why regional leaders from Maharashtra did not address the gathering from the main stage, Raut said the large turnout had put pressure on the organisers to expedite the proceedings.
He said supporters had started arriving at the venue as early as 8 am, resulting in a huge gathering near the main stage.
"To ensure that the rally concluded on time, we requested AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal to initiate Rahul Gandhi's address without delay," he said.
Describing the 'Chalo Delhi' rally as a success despite security barricades erected across the national capital, Raut said the gathering has sent a message to the Centre that people would not tolerate alleged administrative or electoral manipulation.. UNI NEP NST AAB
