Renowned 'live statue artist' hopes to set up 'Live Statues Museum' in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 24 (UNI) Dr. A. Rajesh, a well-known "live statue artist" from Hyderabad, on Tuesday said that he will set up a 'Live Statues Museum' in Hyderabad under PPP mode if the state government extends support.
Displaying various statues of renowned leaders, celebrities made with silicone material and a remarkable creation of a "live statue" of Sai Baba with fibre material to the media here, Rajesh said that he needs at least two acres of land to set up the museum where he will create 100 life-size statues of well known freedom fighters, artists, politicians and celebrities to promote tourism.
"To set up a museum, something similar to Madame Tussauds in London, we will also require between Rs 20-30 crores investment excluding land cost," he said, and appealed to the corporates to come forward to extend support.
This could become a major tourism attraction, he said.
Dr Rajesh, who has 17-years experience in making "live statues", said that he has been honored with a rare distinction for his remarkable creation: a "live statue" of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba, which has been accepted by the Shree Sai Baba Sansthan Trust and is now installed in the meditation centre in Shirdi temple.
Such "live statues", especially of revered figures like Sai Baba, are gaining traction as a new form of cultural tourism, bringing in visitors and devotees to see these interactive sculptures that blend spirituality and art, said Rajesh while interacting with the media in the city.
A graduate of Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNFAU), he said that there are very few "live statue" artists in the country.
His technique involves blending fibreglass and resin, resulting in lightweight yet durable statues that evoke a profound sense of realism.
The concept of "live statues" is rapidly gaining popularity in India, resonating deeply with the country’s rich tradition of idol worship and reverence for historical and spiritual figures.
During his career, Dr. Rajesh has earned recognition from prestigious institutions such as Hetero Drugs, NFCL, the Tourism Department, Salarjung Museum, HMDA, and GHMC.
