Telangana Transport Minister inaugurates new bus station

Yellareddy (Telangana), June 24 (UNI) Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today inaugurated the newly constructed RTC bus station at the Yellareddy constituency centre, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development and public welfare.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar lauded MLA Madan Mohan Rao’s consistent efforts for rural development. “Every time Madan Mohan visited me or met in Hyderabad, he would request for a bus depot in Yellareddy. He became an MLA to serve the people of rural Telangana,” the Minister noted.
Highlighting the transformative steps taken under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Minister recalled the challenging condition of RTC before the formation of the Congress-led Praja Jalan government.
“There was a time when RTC was on the verge of shutdown—no new buses were purchased, and no jobs were given. But within 48 hours of forming the government, we launched free bus travel for women. So far, 190 crore women have benefited, with free travel worth Rs 6,300 crore provided,” he said.
Minister Prabhakar also emphasised the revival and strengthening of the RTC network across the state, citing the sanction of two new bus depots in Eturu Nagaram and Peddapalli district headquarters. He assured that a decision regarding a full-fledged bus depot in Yellareddy would be taken soon after consultation with the Chief Minister.
Touching upon broader welfare measures, he said, “Our government has released Rs 9,000 crore for farmers under Rythu Bharosa within just 9 days—something that previously took three months. We are also the only state providing fine rice in fair price shops, 200 units of free electricity, Rs 500 gas cylinder, and bonuses for fine paddy.” UNI VV SSP
