Resolving farmers' problems is priority of the govt: Manoj Singh

Lucknow, May 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Thursday said that the interest of farmers is paramount for the government and efforts are being made continuously to increase their income.
During a meeting with the office-bearers of various Kisan Unions, the Chief Secretary said the interest of farmers is paramount for the government.
"Continuous efforts are being made at the government level to increase the income of farmers. In the last few years, the situation of sugarcane payment in the state has improved. Transparent system of purchase of wheat and paddy under Minimum Support Price (MSP) and timely payment system is being ensured," he said.
He listened carefully to the problems of farmers related to electricity, irrigation, revenue and mining articulated by the Kisan Union and directed the departmental officers to resolve them on priority. He said that the cases of share determination in the state should be resolved by organising special camps, so that farmers do not have to visit courts unnecessarily.
