Retired IPS Officer and veteran social worker Kishore Kunal dead

Patna, Dec 29 (UNI) A retired IPS officer and veteran social worker Acharya Kishore who contributed immensely in health sector in Bihar, died on Sunday after cardiac arrest.
He was 74.
Kunal was IPS officer of the 1972 batch and had taken voluntary retirement from the service for social service. He was secretary of Mahavir Mandir Trust of Patna and also had been head of Bihar State Religious Board.
As head of Bihar State Religious Board, Kunal was instrumental in taking decisions to free unauthorised possesion of Mahants(head priest) of several temples in the state. He was also dead against the prevalent practice of sacrifice of goats and other cattle at some temples in the state and other parts of the country.
Kunal had been secretary of trust of Mahavir Mandir and taken steps to channelise revenue of the temple in establishing and running several hospitals including Mahavir Cancer Hospital in Phulwari Sharif locality of Patna. Poor patients are treated at very subsidised cost for cancer in this hospital.
A product of Patna University, Kunal was IPS officer of 1972 batch. He was SSP of Patna and had got exhumed body of Swetnisha Trivedi alias Bobby for re-postmortem of the body in eighties as the case was sensational and a number of bigwigs were allegedly involved in it. Besides being an upright IPS officer, he was also a man having strong will to serve the people.

Search & rescue to trace the whereabouts of tourist couple from Madhya Pradesh in Meghalaya

Shillong, May 27 (UNI) The whereabouts of a tourist couple from Madhya Pradesh who went missing during a visit to Sohra, also known as Cherrapunjee, a popular tourist destination in Meghalaya, remains unknown.
Meghalaya police along with State Disaster Response Force and villagers, has launched a massive search and rescue operation to trace missing couple identified as 27-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam from Indore, who have gone missing since May 24.
The couple hired a two-wheeler from one Sagar Sen Samal of Keating Road here on May 22 and then rode to Sohra. They were supposed to return the two-wheeler after four days.
