Rohit Saraf underwent 15 months of rigorous preparation for 'The Revolutionaries'

Mumbai, Sep 15 (UNI) Actor Rohit Saraf spent 15 months preparing for his role as revolutionary Sachindranath Sanyal in Nikkhil Advani’s period drama series 'The Revolutionaries', undergoing an extensive physical training regimen to move beyond the urban, romantic roles he has previously been associated with.
To get into the skin of the character, Saraf underwent strength training, Kalaripayattu, conditioning, action rehearsals, movement and dance training.
The 29-year-old actor said, "I realised that just looking strong wouldn't make Sachin's character believable. I had to feel the strength within him. These young men constantly travel, train, hide, and fight. I wanted that strength to come naturally to me."
He said that the Kalari and action training helped him understand the character. He added jokingly, "For a while, I thought I had mistakenly signed up to be an athlete. After training, I had to do my real work: acting."
The "mismatched" actor also made significant changes to his diet. He said that along with seeing changes in his physique, his confidence also increased and he felt more comfortable performing action scenes.
Describing Sachindranath Sanyal's personality, he said he was not just a tough revolutionary, but also a passionate man. He said, "A man who may be emotional and vulnerable, but never wavers from his convictions when it comes to right and wrong."
Saraf's trainer, Tejas Lalwani, revealed that the actor trained with discipline for 15 months. During this time, he practised strength training, Kalari, lathi, wrestling, Mallakhamb, and dance.
Lalwani said Saraf's physical transformation was achieved naturally, without the use of steroids or diuretics. He worked hard consistently with a regular diet, plant protein, fish oil, and creatine monohydrate.
"The Revolutionaries" also features Pratibha Ranta, Bhuvan Bam, and Gurfateh Pirzada in pivotal roles.
