RSP’s Silicon Steel Mill sets new production, despatch records in H1 2026-27

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) The Silicon Steel Mill (SSM) of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved its highest-ever saleable production and despatch in the first half of the 2026-27 financial year, setting new benchmarks for its performance.
According to RSP sources, SSM recorded saleable production of 40,730 tonnes during April-September 2026, surpassing its previous best of 40,608 tonnes achieved during the corresponding period of 2008-09.
The mill also registered its highest-ever saleable steel despatch of 40,424 tonnes during H1 of 2026-27, exceeding its previous record of 39,827 tonnes recorded in the first half of 2010-11.
The latest performance represents a growth of 28.7 per cent in production and 30.7 per cent in despatch over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
RSP said the record performance was the result of the collective efforts of the SSM team and the support extended by various associated and supporting departments.
Congratulating the SSM team and its leadership on the achievement, RSP Director-in-Charge Alok Verma said the Silicon Steel Mill must further harness its potential and leverage its niche products to strengthen the plant’s bottom line.
The record-breaking performance of SSM reaffirms RSP’s focus on maximising the production of value-added products, improving despatches and contributing to the overall growth of SAIL, the sources said.
