Russia has no plans for engaging in military conflict with Western Europe, says Foreign Ministry

Moscow, Oct 8 (UNI) Russia has no plans for initiating any kind of armed conflict with Western Europe and poses no threat to any country, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said.
"If Germany’s top intelligence official publicly voices his own fantasies, it means that Europe is indeed in great danger. I will repeat this for the sake of clarity: Russia threatens no one," she aid at a news briefing.
“The Russian president and foreign minister have repeatedly stated that Moscow has no plans for an armed conflict with Western Europe," Zakharova said, commenting on remarks by the head of Germany’s foreign intelligence service.
She further questioned what kind evidence was being used to substantiate such claims, asking what goals or reasons were being attributed to Moscow.
"One could ask those who voice such things - or at least those who can explain what they mean - to clarify their position. How do they justify these fantasies of theirs? What do they cite as the goals, objectives, or reasons for the actions they fabricate and attribute to us?" she asked.
She went on to accuse European countries of rapidly pursuing militarisation, including expanding their military-industrial sectors and promoting what she described as “Russophobia” and the idea of an “inevitable conflict”; developments she said had been addressed repeatedly by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zakharova added that Russia would respond if aggression originated from Western Europe or the European Union, without specifying what form that response would take.
“As for the nature of that response, you need only re-read the president’s relevant statement,” she said.
