Sachdeva, instrumental in BJP's win against AAP in Delhi, appointed Punjab co-in-charge ahead of polls

New Delhi, Sept 23 (UNI) As political parties gear up for the Punjab assembly polls next year, the BJP, in a strategic move, appointed former Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva as co-in-charge in the state, along with Dr Alka Gurjar.
Sachdeva, who spearheaded the party's campaign at the grass-roots level in the Delhi Assembly polls and was instrumental in the BJP's win, is likely to prove an asset as he will assist Satish Poonia, who has been made in-charge for Punjab.
In the Delhi Assembly polls, where the main fight was against AAP (the party currently in power in Punjab), Sachdeva cornered Arvind Kejriwal's party and its regime over various allegations, including corruption and public issues.
These issues resonated with the people of the national capital, along with other factors, ultimately resulting in the BJP coming to power after 27 years.
As a seasoned organisational manager with the ability to bring people together and move forward, Sachdeva’s background makes him suitable for ground-level structuring, booth operations, and expanding the party's footprint beyond urban strongholds.
Notably, he challenged Arvind Kejriwal over the Yamuna river cleaning issue and, as a mark of protest, took a symbolic dip in the polluted water of the river.
Sachdeva, comes from a Punjabi background, which is expected to help the party establish a stronger cultural connection in the northern state. UNI APS CDS
