Sanitation worker suicide: resolution moved in Shahdara South Ward Committee by BJP councillor demanding expulsion of AAP councillor

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) A resolution has been moved in Shahdara South Ward Committee by BJP councillor Priyanka Gautam, seconded by councillor Alka Raghav, demanding expulsion of Aam Aadmi Party Councillor Vijay Kumar for allegedly forcing a MCD sanitation worker Deepak to commit suicide.
The resolution was submitted by Safai Karamchari union to DEMS Chairman and Shahdara South Zone Chairman regarding Aam Aadmi Party councillor Vijay Kumar 's alleged harrasment, forcing MCD sanitation worker to commit suicide.
It has been mentioned in the resolution that sanitation workers are an integral part of the corporation. They play an important role in maintaining the cleanliness of the city every day, keeping the cleanliness system smooth and providing a healthy and hygienic environment to the city.
It is an important responsibility of the corporation to take care of the interests of such employees and the safety and dignity of their families. It further read that since, the deceased Deepak, an employee working in the corporation in the Trilokpuri area, was allegedly cheated by the local municipal councillor Vijay Kumar, due to which he committed suicide after getting upset. An FIR has been lodged against Kumar by the deceased's wife.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the people are seeking answers regarding the allegations against AAP Councillor Kumar in connection with the serious case of sanitation worker Deepak’s suicide.
He further said that despite the matter being raised on Thursday by Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra, the AAP leadership has so far taken no action against its municipal councillor, which naturally raises the question: "Under whose protection is Vijay Kumar being shielded," he asked.
He said that on Saturday, the BJP Mahila Morcha workers will hold a protest outside the office of Trilokpuri Municipal Councillor Vijay Kumar and demand his resignation. In case, Kumar does not resign on Saturday, and AAP takes no action against him, Delhi BJP will hold a protest outside the AAP office on Sunday. Through this protest, the top leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party will be directly questioned as to why no action has been taken against Vijay Kumar and why his resignation has not been sought so far, the BJP leader added.
