SCR records historic growth under GM Arun Kumar Jain’s leadership

Hyderabad, June 27 (UNI) South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved unprecedented growth over the last three financial years—2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25—under the leadership of General Manager Arun Kumar Jain, who is set to retire this month.
His tenure marked a golden era of performance, innovation, and infrastructure expansion.
SCR’s gross revenue rose from Rs 18,976 crore in 2022–23 to Rs 20,569 crore in 2024–25. Freight loading hit record levels of 144.1 million tonnes, and passenger revenue consistently crossed Rs 5,000 crore. The zone added 960 km of new lines, doubling and tripling works. Key projects included a 2.2 km rail flyover near Gudur and a rail-under-rail structure near Kazipet.
With Rs 47,050 crore in capital expenditure, SCR undertook major station redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, targeting 119 stations. Three upgraded stations—Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal—have already been inaugurated. A modern terminal at Cherlapally was developed at a cost of Rs 413 crore.
Electrification was completed across the broad-gauge network, and 396 new electric locomotives brought the total to 1,268. Eight Vande Bharat trains, 15 new Express services, and 28 MMTS services were introduced. Safety infrastructure was strengthened with the elimination of 234 level crossings and the construction of 236 bridges.
Speed upgrades to 130 kmph on 1,835 route km and advanced signaling on 289 km enhanced efficiency. Workshops surpassed targets with over 8,800 coaches and 20,000 wagons maintained. Scrap disposal revenue reached a record Rs 501 crore in 2024–25.
Initiatives like Nanhe Farishte rescued over 5,000 children, while several tech-driven innovations improved operations and user experience. SCR also earned national awards for energy conservation and performance efficiency.
Arun Kumar Jain credited the success to the dedication of SCR’s workforce and leaves behind a legacy of excellence in Indian Railways, a SCR statement said on Friday.
