Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) Senior journalist MD Muneer passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
He was 65. He is survived by his wife and two children. His funeral will be held at his native village, Mandamarri, in Mancherial district on Sunday evening, sources said.
Muneer had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment at Omega Hospital in Gachibowli. His condition worsened, and he passed away shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Before entering journalism, Muneer worked with Singareni Collieries and later took voluntary retirement (VRS). He went on to serve as a journalist for several decades and was known for his deep involvement in social and public issues. He also played a prominent role in the Telangana movement, serving as the convener of the Singareni Joint Action Committee (JAC) during the Sakala Janula Samme.
In a statement, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) expressed his condolences over the untimely demise of Muneer, describing him as a "people's journalist." He noted that Muneer was a key figure in many movements in Singareni and North Telangana, and termed his passing an irreparable loss.
KTR also recalled Muneer’s significant contribution to the Telangana movement, especially his leadership during the Sakala Janula Samme, and extended heartfelt condolences to his family.
