Phagwara (Punjab), June 19 (UNI) At least seven people, including the driver, were injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned on Sultanpur Lodhi Road near Kapurthala late Wednesday evening. The incident occurred when the vehicle hit a pothole, causing it to lose balance and overturn.
Sources said the driver, identified as Avinash, was returning home to Pithorahaal village in Sultanpur Lodhi after visiting the Mata Bhadrakali temple in Shekhupur along with his family.
On the way back, the auto-rickshaw reportedly encountered a deep pothole on the poorly maintained road, leading to the accident.
All injured passengers were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala with the help of a 108 emergency ambulance service. Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that treatment is ongoing and none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening at this time.
Local police have been informed about the incident, and an investigation is underway.
