Shah and Nabin lead protests against Opposition’s ‘arajakta’, accuse Rahul of ‘protecting’ Bangladeshi infiltrators

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) A day after the INDIA bloc’s Chalo Dilli’ rally over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls, ruling BJP’s top leaders, union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president Nitin Nabin, led counter-protests in different parts of the country under its ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ counter-campaign.
With these padyatras, the BJP aims to target an aggressive Opposition, in particular Congress, accusing it of trying to “destablise the country and insulting the mandate of the people “. At the centre of the saffron party's aim is Rahul Gandhi who Shah on Monday directly accused of "trying to protect Bangladeshi infiltrators.”
“Rahul Baba’s real issue is that three crore votes belong to people who do not even exist. These are Bangladeshi infiltrators. Rahul ji, make as much effort as you want, we will ensure that every single infiltrator is removed from the electoral rolls,” he said, leading a padyatra in Congress-ruled Telengana’s Hyderabad.
Nabin, meanwhile, led the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ march in Bhagalpur, Bihar, before participating in one in Kolkata, where he was joined by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya. “Rahul Gandhi is working as a ‘foreign toolkit’. The Opposition’s sole agenda is to capture power and destabilise India at the behest of a foreign toolkit,” Nabin said.
Although the INDIA bloc’s rally was a joint initiative of Opposition parties, BJP leaders largely focused attention and attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of attempting to protect Bangladeshi infiltrators.
“Thousands of people are standing on the roads in Hyderabad today. Yesterday, a rally was also held in Delhi. Rahul ji held a rally, claiming it was a ‘vote bachao’ rally, but it was actually a ‘save the infiltrators’ rally. The Congress party wants to capture elections through bogus voting. If one person has two votes, should one of them not be cancelled?” Shah said.
Shah also rejected the Opposition’s allegations that the BJP was winning elections because of the SIR. Citing the saffron party’s electoral victories since 2014, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had won the 2014 and 2019 elections without the SIR exercise. He also referred to the BJP’s victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and Bihar to support his assertion.
“After 2024, we won Maharashtra with the biggest majority. We won Haryana with the biggest majority. After 30 years, we won Delhi. We won Bihar with the biggest majority. In Bengal too, (former CM Mamata Banerjee) Didi’s entire political standing has been wiped out,” he said.
From November 1 the BJP has started padyatras and rallies as part of its counter-campaign against INDIA Bloc’s aggressive stance on the SIR, CEC Gyanesh Kumar and EVMs. Senior leaders, state BJP presidents, thousands of party workers and members of the public will participate in rallies across the country, according to party.
Top of the line leaders such as J.P. Nadda, Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath are scheduled to hold rallies in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and other places. Sources say the campaign’s schedule also includes an extensive plan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Sunday Nabin led a padyatra in Haryana’s Rohtak—the stronghold of senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son Deepender Singh Hooda.
Senior Congress leaders claim the BJP’s counter-rallies reflected its nervousness. BJP leaders shoot back saying that the campaign has been designed to “pay back the Opposition in the same coin” and tell the people the “reality”—the “lies, deception, conspiracies and anarchy being spread by the Opposition, especially Congress and Rahul Gandhi.”
Besides, seeing senior leaders take to the streets will also help galvanise and enthuse party cadres and workers ahead of key elections scheduled next year
“With the resolve of ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’, every BJP karyakarta will reach out to villages and households to expose the Opposition’s false and fabricated narrative and apprise people of the truth,” they say.UNI VS AAB
