Shiv Sena (UBT) stages major protest on Maharashtra-Karnataka border in support of MES

Kolhapur, Nov 1 (UNI) Activists of district unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) faction staged a major protest today at the Kogonali check post on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border to show their solidarity with Marathi-speaking people living in disputed areas along the border of Karnataka.
Every year on November 1, when the neighbouring Karnataka government celebrates Karnataka Rajyotsava, the Marathi-speaking population led by Maharashtra Ekikarant Samiti (MES) in the border district of Belagavi observes it as a "Black Day".
Shiv Sena activists led by its district president Vijay Devane and other office-bearers marched towards the border to show solidarity with Marathi-speaking residents in Belagavi and other parts of disputed border areas and to support MES for their today's agitation in Belagavi.
The Belagavi district administration had previously issued an entry ban under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). This barred Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders, including Kolhapur district president Devane, from entering Belagavi to avoid potential linguistic and political friction.
Despite the entry ban, hundreds of Shiv Sena (UBT) workers marched toward the border to show their solidarity with Marathi-speaking residents in Belagavi. They were intercepted by a heavy contingent of the Karnataka Police at the Kognoli check post on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48). This led to intense scuffles and heated standoffs between the activists and border security.
Police detained several key Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders and activists at the scene, including Vijay Devane, Virat Patil, Prakash Patil, and Raju Yadav. UNI SSS SS
