Singapore's technology and UP's strength will together write a new chapter in global development: CM Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday held discussions with a 14-member delegation of Singaporean industrialists and investors led by the Singapore Business Federation, seeking investments in logistics, semiconductors, data centres, green energy, urban planning and hospitality.
The delegation’s visit follows the Chief Minister’s trip to Singapore in February 2026.
Welcoming the delegation, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh had shed its “BIMARU” image to become a growth engine. He said the state’s GDP, annual budget and per capita income had tripled, as had women’s participation in the workforce. Uttar Pradesh had also remained revenue-surplus without imposing new taxes, he added.
Referring to his meetings with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in February, Adityanath said investment agreements worth around ₹60,000 crore had been reached. He stressed that the government’s priority was to turn proposals into projects and begin production, assuring investors of support at every stage, from signing MoUs to manufacturing.
The Chief Minister proposed developing a dedicated “Singapore City” and a high-tech industrial township near Noida International Airport at Jewar. The region, connected to the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors and an expressway network, could become a major supply chain hub for international companies, he said. The state has a land bank of over 75,000 acres for industrial investment, while 27 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters are being developed.
The six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh and Chitrakoot have received investment proposals worth over ₹35,000 crore.
Adityanath identified six priority areas for cooperation, including multimodal logistics and warehousing; semiconductor fabrication, electronics, data centres, cloud services and artificial intelligence; and clean technologies such as solar energy, green hydrogen, waste management and water recycling.
He said Uttar Pradesh accounted for around 55 per cent of India’s mobile phone production and 60 per cent of electronic components. Highlighting the state’s agricultural potential, he said its contribution of 21 per cent to the country’s foodgrain production offered scope for partnerships with Singapore’s food packaging and export industries.
On tourism and hospitality, Adityanath cited the successful organisation of Maha Kumbh 2025 as evidence of the state’s management capabilities. He said Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Prayagraj and the Buddhist Circuit offered opportunities for world-class hotels, convention centres and hospitality services. Singapore’s expertise in urban planning could also support the development of Lucknow, the State Capital Region and new townships.
Singapore Business Federation chairman Mark Lee and other delegates, who inspected industrial areas in Noida and Greater Noida before the meeting, praised the state’s infrastructure, ease of doing business and investment policies. They cited the Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park and Semiconductor Cluster being developed in Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway region as projects meeting international standards.
Prasun Mukherjee, chairman of the SBF-India Business Committee, said it was the first high-level Singapore Business Federation delegation led by its chairman to visit an Indian state.
Prasant Mukherjee, managing director of Universal Success Enterprises, praised the state government’s efforts to implement MoUs signed during the Chief Minister’s February visit.
During the meeting, Adityanath presented a Certificate of Eligibility to Greater Nashik Infracon Private Limited, a Singapore-based company affiliated with the Universal Success Enterprises Group, for 50 acres of land in Sector 8D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The company will invest ₹775 crore to establish an integrated manufacturing Universal Packaging Hub, creating 1,880 direct jobs through foreign direct equity investment from Singapore.
An MoU was also exchanged with Agricorp International to establish a greenfield manufacturing facility for soy protein isolate and chickpea protein concentrate in Uttar Pradesh, strengthening the state’s agricultural processing and value-addition ecosystem.
Another MoU was exchanged with Blue Planet Environmental Solutions for treating around 7.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste in Noida’s Sector 145 and setting up a fresh waste processing plant with a capacity of 350 tonnes per day in Saharanpur. The projects entail an estimated investment of Rs 250–350 crore and are expected to generate 100–120 jobs.
The meeting was attended by Singapore Business Federation CEO Kok Ping Soon, IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal, Agrocorp International CEO Vishal Vijay, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions CEO Prashant Singh, PSA India managing director Pavithran M. Kallada, Sembcorp AGM Vineet Yadav and senior state government officials and industrial development representatives.
