SJTA Chief Administrator seeks formulation of new and special laws for buildings around parikrama corridor

Puri, June 8 (UNI) Sri Jagannath temple Chief Administrator Aravinda Kumar Padhee on Sunday appealed to the Odisha government to impose restrictions on the height of construction of buildings around the parikrama corridor of the Srimandir and around the Gundicha temple for security reasons and to lay down norms to maintain a spiritual scenario of nearby areas.
In a letter to the state Urban and Housing Department, Padhee stated that multi-storied buildings are being constructed close to the Parikrama of the Sri Jagannath temple and the Gundicha temple. The height of these constructions is going several meters above the temple Maghanad Prachir and the Guindicha temple, posing a threat to the temples and their devotees.
The Chief Administrator in the letter stated that the Department should take necessary steps to limit the height of buildings close to the temple, with additional instructions to construct the front portion of the building in a manner that maintains Kalinga architecture, thereby increasing the spiritual ambience of the area, Padhee stated.
The law should be framed to beautify the vacant spaces and display boards of commercial establishments, and roadside advertisement billboards should be brought under the restrictions, the Chief Administrator stated.
Earlier on 26th May this year, the high-level committee of the Sri Jagannath temple administration discussed these issues, and a resolution was passed to approach the state government to formulate Laws as a special case, stated the Chief Administrator, in his letter.
