Southwest Monsoon further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian Sea

Pune, May 24 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian Sea, some parts of west central and east central Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep area, Kerala, Mahe, some parts of Karnataka, remaining parts of Maldives and Comorin area; many
parts of Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of southwest and eastcentral Bay of Bengal, some parts of westcentral and north Bay of Bengal, and some parts of Mizoram on Saturday.
Thus, the Southwest Monsoon has set in over Kerala today, the 24th May, 2025, against the normal date of 1st June.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, entire Goa, some parts of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of Karnataka, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, some more parts of westcentral and North Bay of Bengal, some more parts of parts of Northeastern states and some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 2-3 days.

Day Temperatures were markedly above normal ( > 5.1°C) at many places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at Few places over west Rajasthan; at Isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh. appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Arunachal Pradesh; at few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Saurashtra and Kutch; at Isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
The temperatures above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at few places over Gujarat region and Lakshadweep; at Isolated places over Bihar. near normal (- 1.5°C to 1.5°C) atmany places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Uttarakhand; at few places over Odisha, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa and Kerala and Mahe; at Isolated places over Punjab and coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
On Friday, the highest maximum temperature of 48.0°C was reported at Jaisalmer (west Rajasthan).

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed at many places of west Rajasthan; at few places of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; Heat wave conditions in isolated pockets of east Rajasthan.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep and at many places in Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa and Marathwada and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and south Interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Rayalseema.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and Rajasthan.
Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Saturday.
