Chitradurga (Karnataka), Sep 11 (UNI) SpaceFields, a startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has successfully tested India's first aerospike rocket engine, marking a significant milestone in the country’s space technology development.
The test took place at the IISc Propulsion Test Facility in Challakere, Chitradurga district, with engineers and scientists from SpaceFields gathered to witness the historic moment.
The 168 mm aerospike engine underwent a static test, showcasing its potential to revolutionise rocket propulsion. After a brief period of instability, the engine achieved steady combustion, demonstrating its capability with a specially developed composite propellant.
