Speeding Car flies into farmland, killing three, constructing a memorial for ancestors

Mathura, Nov 5 (UNI) In a horrific road accident, a speeding car proceeding on the Bareilly-Mathura Highway lost control, veered off the road and rammed into three people of a family engaged in constructing a memorial for their ancestors in their farmland at Gaju village under Raya police limits on Thursday.
Police said the victims were crushed to death on the spot. The deceased were a father, his son and grandson.
According to police, the tragedy took place when Jawahar Singh (70), a resident of Gaju village near the Bareilly-Mathura Highway, was constructing a memorial for his ancestors on his field. He was accompanied in the work by his son Harveer (45) and grandson Ankit (24). At around 8 am, a speeding car from Bareilly towards Mathura lost control and veered onto his field, 200 mt from the road, crushing all three to death on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said they were left speechless witnessing the car moving at breakneck speed fly into the air from the highway and land on Jawahar Singh's field. The driver fled the scene after the accident.
The death of three people sparked widespread anger, with nearby villagers gathering there and blocking the Highway. Police who arrived at the scene removed the bodies for post-mortem, and a search is on for the absconding driver.
