T’gana BJP president urges graduates to register as voters; Rekha Sharma announces BJP Maha Padayatra

Hyderabad, Oct 25 (UNI) BJP Telangana State president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday urged eligible graduates to register as voters for the upcoming Legislative Council elections in the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies, while stressing the importance of strengthening democracy.
He appealed after listening to the 139th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ along with residents at Lakshmi’s Imperia Apartments in Miyapur.
Ramchander Rao said the Prime Minister’s monthly radio programme served as a source of inspiration and guidance for students, youth and the public. He highlighted Modi’s call to maintain cleanliness, keep surroundings tidy and protect nature ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals.
Referring to the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, he cited examples of Indian products gaining international recognition, including tribal product packaging from Maharashtra receiving a Good Design Award in Japan and the export of Bihar’s makhana and Karnataka’s tur dal. He also referred to river rejuvenation efforts in Uttarakhand and organic cotton cultivation in Punjab as examples of progress towards a self-reliant India.
On the graduates’ MLC elections, Ramchander Rao said those who had completed their degrees by October 31, 2023, in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines, should submit Form 18 by November 6. He clarified that even graduates who had registered previously must apply afresh for inclusion in the current electoral rolls and urged eligible voters to complete the process within the deadline.
Meanwhile, BJP Telangana co-in-charge Rekha Sharma alleged that the Congress was attempting to weaken democratic institutions and divide society along caste and religious lines. She announced that the BJP would organise a ‘Maha Padayatra’ across Telangana on November 1 under the slogan ‘Loktantra Bachao – Bheedtantra Hatao’ (Save Democracy – Eliminate Mob Rule).
Sharma said the march was intended to counter what the BJP described as the Congress’s divisive politics and propaganda and to protect the Constitution and democracy. She appealed to the public and intellectuals to support the initiative.
BJP State general secretary Gautam Rao, district president Srinivas Reddy and Ravi Kumar Yadav were among those who attended the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in Miyapur.
