Telangana BJP’s president accuses congress of supporting forces seeking ‘regime change’

Hyderabad, Oct. 16 (UNI) Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Friday accused the Congress of aligning with forces allegedly seeking to destabilise the country and demanded that the party clarify its stand on remarks about bringing about a Bangladesh-style “regime change” in India.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Rao questioned the silence of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on statements attributed to lawyer Prashant Bhushan, All India Students Association (AISA) president Neha Bora and Abhijeet Dipke of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).
Rao alleged that the remarks concerning developments in Bangladesh and the possibility of similar political change in India were objectionable.
He asked whether the Congress supported such calls, arguing that changes in government should take place through elections and the people’s mandate.
He also accused Rahul Gandhi and certain groups of attempting to undermine democratic institutions, including the judiciary and the Election Commission of India, alleging that their objective was to capture power through means other than democratic elections.
“Unable to win democratically in elections, Rahul Gandhi has joined hands with anti-social forces,” Rao alleged.
Criticising the Congress for what he described as its association with Naxalite ideology, the BJP state president demanded that the party publicly clarify its position on the statements attributed to Bhushan, Bora and Dipke.
Rao warned that the Congress would face criticism if it failed to distance itself from the remarks.
