Telangana CM dares KCR for debate in Assembly on Godavari-Banakacharla project

Hyderabad, June 24 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy this evening challenged the BRS chief and Opposition leader K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for a debate in the legislative assembly on the Godavari- Banakacharla irrigation project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government.
To prove his sincerity, the BRS president can chose the time and date of his choice to debate on the project in the assembly and the government is prepared to convene a special session to exclusively discuss about the State’s share of water of the Godavari and Krishna rivers, said Revanth Reddy at the ‘Rythu Bharosa Vijayotsava Sabha’ held at Rajiv Gandhi Statue, Secretariat.
"Let's discuss who did injustice to Telangana regarding the Godavari waters," the CM said, adding, "I will come with proofs to nail who is the traitor of Telangana. Is Mr. KCR ready?”
KCR did not complete even a single irrigation project during the 10-year BRS rule, he alleged, adding that the KCR family "exploited farmer’s sentiments and plundered crores of rupees" in the name of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project by making a false promise of irrigation facility to the farmers.
He appealed to people to analyse the performance of the 10 years' BRS rule and 18 months' People’s government regime under him.
He alleged that the KCR family looted Rs one lakh crores in the name of Kaleshwaram and "ours is a history of spending 1 lakh 4 thousand crores for farmers in 18 months and supporting the farmers".
The CM pointed out that it was KCR who warned the farmers against taking extreme steps of hanging themselves if they did paddy cultivation since the BRS government had stopped purchasing paddy.
Instead, the People’s government encouraged the farmers to cultivate Paddy and also fulfilled the promise of purchasing every single grain and gave bonus along with remunerative price.

The farmers trusted in the government and made Telangana the largest paddy -growing state in the country. They cultivated 2.80 lakh crore metric tonnes of paddy making Telangana the first in the country, he said.
The people’s government also curbed the exploitation of middlemen in the purchase of paddy, the CM said, adding that as promised in the elections, the government is providing a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal to the farmers who grow fine variety paddy.
The CM said that it was KCR who criticised the Seemandhra leaders for neglecting the Telangana projects in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. Why did KCR not complete even one more project in 10 years?
"The BRS leaders looted lakhs of crores and encroached thousands of acres of land but now, they are spreading evil propaganda against Congress Governments on the Banakacharla project," the CM pointed out.
On the economic front, the CM said that his government "inherited a state economy inflicted with cancer from the previous BRS government".
Soon after the formation of the People’s government, we released Rs 7,625 crore funds which were not paid by the former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, he said.
The Chief minister also dared KCR for a debate on farmers' welfare.
He alleged that KCR "sold out Kokapet lands" in the city to give Rythu Bandhu and mortgaged Outer Ring Road to implement a farm loan waiver scheme.
The previous government took loans and looted public money in the name of farmers welfare, he claimed.
The CM said the people’s government proved to be farmer friendly by spending Rs 1.04 lakh crore for their welfare in just 18 months. It is my government which promoted farmers as a ‘king’ and made agriculture a profitable profession.
The CM explained that the state government fulfilled the promise of waiver of farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh and restored the self respect of the farmers by relieving them from the mounting debt burden. We waived off Rs 20,617 crore farm loans of the 23,35,964 farmers, as promised, on August 15. We are encouraging women to grow economically with an aim of making one crore women millionaires, he said.
He appealed to people to think seriously and judge the performance of the both governments.
