Telangana CM Revanth Reddy targets KCR-KTR in Sircilla, calls for Congress comeback

Rajanna Sircilla (Telangana), Sep 30 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a sharp political attack on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) during a public meeting in Sircilla on Wednesday, accusing the previous BRS government of neglecting weavers, migrant workers and weaker sections.
Speaking after laying foundation stones and inaugurating development works worth about Rs 340 crore, Revanth Reddy said Sircilla had suffered during the decade of BRS rule and questioned why problems such as weavers' distress and migration to Gulf countries had persisted despite KTR representing the constituency.
The Chief Minister alleged that the previous government had failed to adequately support weavers and cited the Nerella sand-mining controversy and Mid-Manair displacement while attacking the BRS leadership.
Revanth Reddy contrasted the BRS government's record with his government's programmes, saying his administration had spent Rs 1,731 crore on weavers in two-and-a-half years, compared with Rs 2,234 crore claimed to have been spent over 10 years under the previous government.
He also highlighted farm-loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, free electricity, Indiramma houses, free bus travel for women and fee reimbursement.
He challenged the BRS leadership to a debate in the Legislative Assembly on the respective records of the two governments.
In a direct political appeal to Congress workers, Revanth Reddy called for the party to strengthen its presence in Sircilla and said Congress would seek to end what he described as the BRS's “Gadi” politics in the constituency.
He also said the party would work to send a member of the Padmashali community to the Legislative Council and indicated that a Congress leader from Sircilla could be considered for a ministerial position.
Revanth Reddy said his government represented a shift towards what he termed “people's governance” and declared that Congress would seek another term in Telangana.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Mohammed Azharuddin, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Adluri Laxman and Ponnam Prabhakar, besides MPs, MLAs and other Congress leaders attended the meeting.
