Telangana: Comprehensive drought report to be ready by Oct-end: Sanjay Jaju

Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive report on drought conditions prevailing in the state due to the impact of El Nino.
He held a review meeting on the State Disaster Management Department at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday.
Officials informed the meeting that preliminary assessments indicated severe drought conditions in 320 mandals across 18 districts due to El Nino. Jaju directed officials to collect comprehensive data from the Planning, Revenue, Groundwater, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply departments and identify drought-affected mandals as per prescribed norms.
He instructed officials to assess the situation based on 12 standard parameters, including rainfall received during the Southwest Monsoon from June to September.
The Chief Secretary directed that the process of declaring drought-affected mandals be undertaken strictly in accordance with government guidelines and prescribed criteria, with the final report to be prepared by the end of October.
He also directed officials to prepare a detailed report on the impact of El Nino and drought conditions ahead of the proposed all-party meeting convened by the state government, an official statement said.
